National Coalition on Gas Flaring and Oil Spills in the Niger Delta (NACGOND)


National Coalition on Gas Flaring and Oil Spills in the Niger Delta (NACGOND) was a project funded by Dutch Embassy, it all started with the idea of forming a coalition of Civil Society Organizations working to put an end to oil spill and gas flaring issues in the Niger Delta. From inception, it was difficult to establish NACGOND as a strong coalition because of diverse interest from members but as time went by, the diversity of NACGOND membership has come to be its strength, NACGOND concentrate in three basic area of work which are Good Governance, Oil spill and Gas Flaring, Environmental sustainability and livelihood. NACGOND’s work is carried out in the Niger Delta region comprising of Cross River, Akwa ibom, Abia, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states excluding Edo and Imo states. NACGOND’s activities are carried out using the following strategies: Lobbying and Advocacy, Research and Capacity Building, Monitoring and Evaluation. The vision of NACGOND is a clean and safe Niger Delta environment flourishing in nature and people. The mission of NACGOND is Promoting environmental sustainability and supporting livelihood through multi-stakeholder engagement and evidence-based advocacy.
