WELCOME TO LITE-AFRICA

The Leadership Initiative for Transformation and Empowerment (LITE-Africa), formerly known as the Niger Delta Professionals for Development (NIDPRODEV), is a Nigerian non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in the Niger Delta since 1999.

LITE-Africa also provides consulting services to businesses through its corporate arm christened, ‘’Private Sector Engagement in Development’’ (PRISED). Since 2006, we have been collaborating with members of the corporate pillar, government and the security sector in the Niger Delta to advocate for the implementation of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights in the extractive industries.

Each of our programmes builds off past programmes to strengthen, expand, deepen and implement lessons learned. This approach allows beneficiaries to address their needs and gain maximum benefits from our programmes.

LITE-Africa’s existing programmes adds value to donor interventions because of our wide reach and measurable outcomes. This also allows the organisation inform the work of policy makers, government officials, development agencies and extractive industries (with respect to Corporate Social Responsibility).

Our programmes focus on six thematic areas which are: Security Sector Reform and Peace-building, Good Governance and Accountability, Human Rights, Sustainable Livelihoods, Development Finance Programmes, Humanitarian Support and Health Services. We also have a business arm through the Private Sector Engagement in Development, where we work with various transnational companies for community relations services, training on human rights framework and other social performance assessments tools.  LITE-Africa has five board members, who are all Nigerian, and 25 staff members made up of technical specialists, programme managers, finance and administrative personnel with extensive experience in local and international development. We also have international staff based in the U.S. who assist with strategic partnerships, resource mobilization and provide technical assistance and expertise in programme design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. The organization has three operational offices in the Niger Delta with headquarters in Effurun-Warri, Delta State.
