The IWASH was a 26-month project funded by the European Union (EU) and co-ordinated by LITE-Africa and co-implemented by WANEP-Nigeria to improve sustainable access to water supply, sanitation service delivery, and/or improved hygiene practices in rural towns, improve water and sanitation facility performance and ensure scalability of this action in other communities across the Niger Delta in seven (7) communities in two (2) LGAs viz; Uzere, Aviara and Igbide in Isoko South LGA, and Ogbe-Ani, Emu-Uno, Emu-Ebendo and Lagos-Ogbe in Ndokwa West LGA of Delta state, in the Southern region of Nigeria. LITE-Africa implemented project activities in four (4) of the seven (7) communities, namely; Aviara and Igbide in Isoko LGA, and Emu-Ebendo and Lagos-Ogbe in Ndokwa West LGA, while WANEP-Nigeria on the other hand, implemented project activities in three communities, namely; Uzere in Isoko South LGA, and Emu-Uno and Ogbe-Ani in Ndokwa West LGA respectively.
The project created more awareness and education on Hygiene and Sanitation Services among beneficiaries with 70% female and Persons with Disability participation.
